Shellrot!???!!!! Picture enclosed. Need help.

ghettozoohouse Sep 14, 2004 08:39 PM

I've adopted this large female leopard tortoise. At first it looked like she was just old and the shell was just a bit brittle but now it looks like it has spread. The previous owner kept her outside with not heat year round in a coastal area.
What can I do?

I've never dealt with shell rot in torts, but in turtles the best thing to do is to clean the infected area rally well, making sure you get rid of any exsisting fungus and then treat it daily with Silver Sulfide cream (available from a vet) and Betadine applied directly onto the infected area
