Flies are attacted to turtle pens by leftover food and feces, or close proximity to other animals like horses or cows! If you think this might be a problem in your case you can do several things to eliminate flies. Leftover food should always be picked up because not only will files be attracted to the area but raccoons as well. They can kill turtles! Remove all traces of food after an hour or so.

If the pen is small you many have to turn over the soil to cover feces.

If larger animals are attacting flies to your turtle pen, you may have to move the pen to another location or use a different kind of fly trap to kill more flies. Good luck.
