Try putting him in a tub of water to soak. Make sure he can hold his head out of the water if needed. Use warm water and then call a vet.

There has to be a vet someplace around you that can look at him. As for the cause of a prolapse it could be alot of things but typicaly it is hydration or parasitic.

Maybe someone from your area can chime in and give you a vets name to go see. I think a few on here live up your way.

I remeber when these forums were useful and good place to exchange ideas. Whatever, I seached Google and saw this list of Vets. Your Monitor's issue could be a prolapse, at any rate it needs to be examined by a professional. Good luck..

Bob (Odatriad) lives around Long Island, perhaps he has a suggestion for you. With the tree monitors he owns I'm certain he would not go to any vet that he does not feel is qualified. Good luck, I hope your nile makes a complete recovery.

I know prolapses are common in green tree pythons...maybe post on their site www.chondroweb.com in the forum section. They may have some "home remedies" that you can apply to a monitor as well. Try not to stress him out any extra and get to a vet asap. I know of 2 in jersey I don't know if that it to far of a drive on in Woodbridge and one in Plainfield both are good with herps.

Best of luck

Doug
