Substrate question for my CG

mj_kovatch Sep 15, 2004 09:12 AM

To everyone who responded to my first post (my dead cresty...help) I just wanted to say thx soooo much. I bought a new cresty a few days after my first one passed and he's doing really great! My question is, is wood bark(non-cedar)a good subatrate for a cresty? I removed the moss I was using and i'm using paper towels at the moment, but I wanted to find out about the bark first. THX

i've got a friend who keeps a few crested geckos and she uses the tiny wood chips from the local pet shop. they do fine that way, and she just uses a nesting box when the female needs to lay her eggs. dont use just any wood chips though. remember these guys usually dive-bomb their prey, and it would be sad for it to impale itself on a sliver of wood. but i think most pet stores sell lil wood chips that wouldnt hurt your herps.
