Tiny blisters on the skin???

jcmonitor Sep 15, 2004 10:05 AM

Hi everyone,
I was doing my morning water change and noticed this one wc female I have, in quarantine still, has developed small fluid filled blisters all over her body. Now I am going to the vet this evening but I figured I would get some ideas from all of you out there as to what this could be?

Now her setup is standard hot spot, cool side, multi hides on aspen that is dry. I double checked that to make sure and its not belly scales that are blistered but her dorsal and side scales. These are really tiny blisters that when I picked her up popped just from me moving her. The fluid was sticky but clear. I sprayed her down with Virosan and covered the few that popped with antibiotic ointment.

I hit all my books up and the only mention of skin blisters is the red belly ones from being to wet, and or tape worm migration according to the books, but my vet has already cleared her of worms over a month ago her last fecal was clean. However, no worms were in these masses and these are tiny tiny one scale length blisters and actually it's the skin under the scale that is inflamed. There are no mites in the cage I actually have never had them on any of my animals before.

So ideas? opinions?
I am going to vet so please no replies with "take it to a vet" I already know that I just wanted to see if anyone else has come across this before.
Thanks,
JC

The two things I've seen cause blisters were
1. being too wet, causing belly rot
2. heat blisters, but those were on the belly also

Please let us know what you find out from the vet, it should be interesting to see what is causing this.
Hope all goes well and she gets better.

...other than a skin ready to be shed the tiny blisters through me off. Let us know what your vet finds!
