Snake breeder question.....

nhboa Sep 15, 2004 12:50 PM

I have a question... I am looking to purchase a snake from NERD, and was wondering two things... what kind of quality are they, and second, it is a regular occurance for a snake breeder to charge two different prices based on if you pick it up at thier location or have it shipped? I was told that I would have to pay 70-100 dollars more if i pick it up at thier location over having it shipped. I live less than 15 miles away.... seems kind of a waste to have it shipped.... but i guess thats what i may have to do to get the better of the two prices....... thanks for replies...

NERD produces excellent Bloods and is a solid company. Are you certain you have the facts correct on this? NERD will go through a lot more trouble shipping an animal than having it collected on site.
The animal posted here was bought last year...wish I lived 15 miles away from there so I could see the new crop firsthand.

Why don't you contact NERD's blood python specialist & get your answers straight from the source?

Just an idea.

I was told that by a NERD employee when i called to ask about thier snakes. When I told a friend what i was told, he told me he went into the store and was told by Kevin (the owner) that that is how its done. He said he was quoted one price by Kevin for said snake and came back to get it, and was told it was 70 dollars more. And when he questioned him about it, He was like... "Do you know who I am? I'm the owner of New England Reptile". I dont know what that was about, All i want is a nice snake at a fair price is all.

How recently was this? I would be very curious to know.

Thanks!

It was just last week... I'm not sure of the exact day, but it was i Believe on Wednesday of last week. I know NERDS snakes are some of the best, and I amsulutely want to have some say in what i get rather than go sight unseen through the internet, so I think I am going to make an appointment to go down, see whats there, and make my own decision. Hell, for all i know mt friend rubbed Kevin wrong that one day or he was stressed about setting up the new store..... anywho... I like to make my own decisions... I just wanted some kind of insight as to if the same snake should be two different prices based soley on if it is shipped or picked up.... I guess i will ahve to see myself.. Thanks for the help all....

LOL...I wouldn't say rubbed the wrong way...for the sake of not airing your friend's laundry in public, we'll just say that your friend got his wires crossed as to who actually quoted him what.

Give me a call - 603.382.3338 during the day, or drop me an e-mail at kara@newenglandreptile.com if you have any questions.

Thanks!

NERD is a great place to go for bloods. Kara (NERD's blood python specialist) is one of the most helpful people i have ever talked to (e-mail counts as talking right?). I really think you called the wrong place, no breeders charge more for picking up at the place. Also you should contact Kara, her e-mail is:
kara@newenglandreptile.com. She will help you with everything, also if you do go there and pick your snake up. Take a BUNCH of pictures and show us some of NERDS stock.
