Breeding question

I have a 2 year old male russian and a one year old female russian.I have caught them trying to breed and he bites her in the face. Is it possible for them to breed and lay eggs at this early age?

even though the male might be ready to mate the female probably isn't at such a young age. this causes alot of stress on the female so it might be wise to seperate them til she mautures.
