feeding "question"?

kingd Sep 15, 2004 02:30 PM

so i have a baby columbian red tail. shes only like 2 1/2 to 3 months old so im working with her feeding habbits. the last couple of feedings she has coiled up her prey then after a few mins releases with her mouth (still keeping it coiled) then seems to look for more food. last night i feed her but kept her cage door open. i was feeding my other snakes when i notice her trying to get out. i "shoed" her back in with my hemostats and of coarse she tried to bit (didnt strike though) them. anyhow she had that "i want more food" face. so i gave her another hopper and with out coiling she ate that one the ate the one she had coiled. does anyone else have any experiances with this? im not going to double feed her again like that but should i just laugh and continue to think its cute? or is it something she should not be doing?

The snake doesnt feel secure,if you`ll just give its prey and secure its cage and leave it alone(leave the room) it will feed when it thinks the coast is clear and void of potential threats.
So what she was actually stating was DO YOU MIND ?

LOL!!

also sometimes not only does it feel threatened but colombians can be some very eager eaters and if its not feeling threatened it sure sees and smells more food .. so he might be viewing you as more food as well .. lol .. i mean think about it ! he smells it .. and since they dont see well , and you are moving close to them .. they "THINK" they see more food .. hope this helps
