What kind of glue or adhesive is safe? (more)

tim5580 Sep 15, 2004 03:23 PM

If I am going to build something for my leopard gecko cage, like a ledge or something whats a good glue or adhesive to use? I was thinking hot glue gun but think it might melt under heat and not support the weight well. So now I am thinking about elmers glue, gorilla glue, caulking, crazy glue, sticky expanding foam, blue silicon stuff (that stuff I use for putting gaskets on in my car, don't remember if that has bad fumes) or spot welding.
I was going to let it air out and dry completely before I put it in there first so anything that has noxious fumes that go away after it dries is OK.
Any recommendations on something strong and safe?

I have a new leo named Mr.Crowley. He lives in a 20 gallon long tank all by himself. Here is a picture of him if you go to the url below...

Silicone works well, and I've also had success with hot glue (see pic below, all the plastic was put togther with hot glue!)It all depends on what you are glueing togther. if you do use silicone, make sure it isnt the "mold inhibiting" kind!
