Can't really comment on the color being lighter unless you post a pic. As far as price, that depends on the locality. Can you give us more info?

Coastals that are common to the market and are nice reds (Lake Elsnore, Mathews lake) will go for about $60-$70. The more drab looking ones (Hemet , Winchester)will go for $50.

It sounds to me the seller is misidentifying them since you mentioned the color being lighter as neonates. The coastals in general do not get darker but the intergrade boas (coastal X desert) do. Maybe its a Verbenia or Whitewater locale?

Give us the locale and we can give you more.

The seller says they are San Diego locale.
Are there any good books or website for ID??

The San Deigo locales could be many places. You need better info.

They may be from the Borrego are and some of those babies (depending on what part of that area they come from) are lighter in color and then darken a little. Most are a silvery color and have rust stripes. Normal looking ones may fetch $40. Nicer ones (hypo, Steel blue) will get upwards of $100.

Need a locale.

Those, to me are definatly not san diego boas. I have nevr seen a san diego boa that looks like that. I am pretty sure he doesn't know the difference between san diego and riverside. They look like whitwaters or possibly verbania, not san diego. I am no expert but do breed rosy boas and have found many in the wild, mostly from san diego. I hope this helps, Rootsrok
