Dont know of any books, but Ill share a few of my mistakes. Dont hang a light inside the lid that would be easy for the snake to climb onto. Dont know what kind of snake your going to house, but my c.atrox went AWOL once. Couldnt see it anywhere in the cage. After a frantic search I returned to the cage after hearing something moveing inside. I peered into the glass looking all around, movement above caught my eye and when i looked up i was face to face with my atrox that had clibed up to the light fixture and was wrapped around it looking at me the whole time. One only has to emagine opening the cage for a closer look inside to realise how bad this could have been. A facial bite from a western diamondback is not high on my to do list. Something else i may be changing is the substrate i use. Ive been useing sand and rocks, petrefied wood, realy makeing it look cool. Its a hastle, hard to clean. I know its ugly and not very fashionable, but im goin with everyone else, news paper.
