Vitamins & Calcium,...

And other dietary supliments. What do we know for sure about their use as it aplies to the indigo? How many of you out there use them? What kind of frequencey, and dosage? What brand? Any possible harm?

If I weren't using bottled water, I wouldn't nessicarily worry about it. But I have a well of questionable nature. It has plenty of calcium and minerals in it, as I have had to clean out the water heater twice, in as many years. And have thrown away a few water bowls because of it. The thing is that it upsets my guts if I drink it, so I don't. So I don't let my snakes drink it either. We all drink bottled water now. Hence the quiry about supliments. I read in someones care sheet that they use a sprikle of Rep Cal once in a while. What does everyone think about this topic? Thanks,
T.

I sprinkle Mineral-I on about every other meal for my snakes. As a vitamin supplement, I crush a normal human grade muti vitamin to powder and sprinkle just a touch of it on with the mineral.

Honestly, I think that if you f/t rodents that haven't been in the freezer too long, you probably don't need to supplement. It gives me warm fuzzies, so I do it anyway.

My own conclusion, based on totally non-scientific evidence, is that indigos probably get more calcium in the wild than in captivity, so I use Mineral-I. I could be totally wrong.

If your well water makes you sick, then bottled for you and the snakes is a good idea.

You should do a search in the archives on supplements as I know this topic gets attention at least a couple times a year.

I am aware that this subject has been discussed before, however, I feel it is worth touching on again.

Doug uses Mineral I, whatever that is. And I use Rep-Cal. What do others use? Has anyone ever heard of negative effects associated with the use of such products?
