beutiful turtle. I love the coloration. May I ask where you purchased it. Oh, and I've a question, how much do you think i could get a baby ally snapper at an expo?

Thanks for your comments on Ichabod. I bought him last year from John Richards. John calls ones like him leucistic, but I think they are more like hypos. They tend to lighten up in color as they get older. At any rate, they are not the same as a normal alligator snapper and the trait appears to be genetic.

Honestly, I have have never seen alligator snappers for sale at an expo because they are illegal to sell in most of the states where I have attended expos (IL, FL, CA). A normal alligator snapper, if they are legal to sell and own in your state, can cost anywhere between $15 and $40. I have lived in IL and FL, where there are major restrictions on their sale and ownership. For example, they are illegal to sell within FL state lines, and I am only allowed to possess one. In IL they are completely illegal unless you have a captive born wildlife permit. These kinds of regulations are found in most of their native states and snappers (common, FL, and Alligator), in general, are banned in many of the western states completely.

Your light guy looks way bigger than mine and I think we got them from John at about the same time last year.

By the way, I want to lesson my tanks a bit.
I have a 17" shell alligator snapper, that I have a permit for.
( Illinois)
If anyone knows anyone thats interested.
I don't wnat to ship it though
