I can't believe this!!
What is it? Maybe I'm just ignorant, but it doesn't look like any of the morphs I've seen.
I don't know-all I call tell you is it came from 2 (WC)Black Rats that bred than laid eggs. Nothing planned here.
I was wondering if anyone here knew anything about this odd colour. It's certainly a huge surprise!!

Cool, that's even better! Better hang on to those babies. Looks like that one at least will make an interesting adult. Do any others look similar or did you hatch any oddballs that look different from this one?
It sure doesn't look like a black rat pup, does it. Maybe both W/C's were of mixed stock? You just never know. I hope you plan to keep it and post pictures of it as it becomes an adule. That is one strange looking black rat pup, but very cool to see. Thanks for posting the photos. I am always amazed to see what mother nature can cook up.
Have all the other eggs hatched? Any others look like that one?
I have 4 left to hatch-well one has his head out already-the one in the photo didn't make it through the night unfortunately-but I had a bad feeling it might not make it-it was about 1/2 the size of the others and had a huge yoke sac still attached.
I'll let you guys know about the others.
Wow is right! Can you post a better shot of the head?

Looks to me like the babies are part corn snake. How long have you had the adults? Is it possible maybe the female had stored sperm from a corn she might have crossed paths with?
Bummer to see that the little guy didnt make it.
Keep us posted on how the rest do!
Tom
Nope -no corns in this area-not native ones anyway-I'm in Northeast PA -- don't think that wouldn't have crossed my mind if I live further south. Still people do tend to lose their pet snakes alot in this area. you wouldn't believe what shows up around here!! I found a boa crossing the road last summer.
