ANERY QUESTION

sallie_keeper Sep 16, 2004 02:10 AM

I need to know how do I tell the difference between a Anery A and
Charcoal babies.

I am looking for a charcoal pair at the next expo I go to, but can not tell the difference between the two colors. And I do not want to be sold something falsely. I have been lookikng at the photos on [bleep], and both the Anery A and charcoal look very much alike, Even amoung the adults. All I know is that the charcoal does NOT have yellowing on neck like the Anerys do. BUT I have female snake that was bought as anery with no yellow... She produced a snow this year, so I am assuming she is not a charcoal...

Also, there was a recent post stating that the blizzard was the
result of Anery A & B genes. But I thought that the A & B do not mix well. Or does the amel need to have the "B" gene to make the
blizzard?

Anery Amel = Snow, Charcoal Amel = Blizzard...right?? Wrong??

Any thoughts??

Charcoals have less contrast than Anery As. When babies, Anery As tend to look stark white and black while Charcoals will look dark gray on gray.

Charcoals CAN have yellow on their throats, and Anery As can lack the yellow. The yellow is inherited totally separate from the Anery genes.

A Blizzard is the result of Amel and Charcoal combined in the same animal.

A Snow is the result of Amel and Anery A combined in the same animal.
