Tail luring in Kunisir Rat?

chaoscat Sep 16, 2004 10:58 AM

I was downstairs cleaning my snake room, when I noticed my male Kunisir Rat, curled up in his branches, lazily twitching his tail back and forth.

I was not aware that Kunisirs used their tail to lure prey-but could it be possible? Has anyone else seen this behavior?

It's more likely that he was uneasy with you being there, but not enough to go into a full defensive display.

My male climac does it sometimes, as does my mail baird. I don't think it's caudal luring in the sense that vipers do it, I liken it more to cat's twitching their tails around without seeming to realise they're doing it. I mostly see my snakes do it when they're otherwise occupied, like during swallowing. Maybe your snake was just watching you so intently he started twitching his tail.
