Cacao as supplement

xelabou Sep 16, 2004 01:06 PM

According to the fact that Cacao is very good for human health, would you give some to your collared ?
Cacao contains : theobromine, cafeine, tyramine, serotonine, phenylethylamine, magnesium and iron

Would you give cacao as food to crickets or mix it with supplement to get brown powdered crix?

Thanks for any comment or suggestion

may not be good for lizards. It might be, but just gutloading and dustng crickets is probably better. Is cafeine good for anything? Besides keeping a taxi driver awake?

The high concentration of theobromine found in almost any chocolate or cocoa product is VERY bad for most animals. The material can produce symptoms which almost mimic strychnine poisoning in their severity, and can lead to fatality in 36 hours if the dosage is high enough. Do a google for 'dogs chocolate' and see what turns up. Reptiles and birds are known to be affected in a similar way.
