set up questions

Hi. I was wondering for the new caledonian crested gecko, if you need to supply them with a heat pad.

Is it the same set up as Leopard geckos have? Where one side is the cool side, where the hide is, and the other is the warm side is. I know crested geckos like to climb so the branches should be on the warm side right?

Also, do I need to supply them with a moist hide like leopard geckos need?

Ken

first of all, these geckos do not need heat pads. they thrive at cooler conditions, and care is nothing like that of leopard geckos. these are arboreal, so they will require a taller enclosure with plenty of material to climb on (besides just the glass). misting is essential, for they require pretty well sustained high humidity, and providing a moist hide would not hurt. a taller enclosure will also provide at least a weak temperature gradient in the enclosure, with it ideally being the warmest at the very top (no more than 80 degrees!).
