I know that crested geckos don't need it that hot in their tanks, 82 the highest is what i read. So, how do you keep it less hot, cause most of the bulbs can get to around 90, especially when you don't have air condition like me. My leopard geckos have it around 88-90, but that's okay for them.

If your saying your house gets that warm then maybe a crested gecko isn't good for you. 90 can and will kill them due to stress. The absolute maximum, which really shouldnt be this high is 82-83. I keep mine around 78 during the day and a drop to 71 at night.

Try to keep it in the coolest room of your house and keep away from direct or even somewhat indirect sunlight. And dont use a bulb nor keep it near a leo tank cause it will raise the tremp some.

fluorescent lights are the best solution to the problem as they are very energy efficient and emit very little heat compared to any incandescent bulbs. if its above 82 regularly in your house...do not try to get these geckos unless you plan on turning on the AC and keeping it on.

Why would you use a light except to watch them, and then you would use a red light which doesn't seem to affect them, even if they even see it. You can get very low watt red "party" lights and just keep it on when you are actually observing and off all of the rest of the time. Is there any part of your house or apartment that is cooler than the rest where you could keep the crestie enclosure? I have the opposite problem, living in the frozen Northland, and I keep 50 or 75 watt halogen red bulbs over them at night which work as night lights for me. That way, even if the house temp. drops to 60F, they are about 70F if they stick around near where the bulb is.
