Flourex Lighting

Bridge Jun 26, 2003 12:38 PM

I was wondering if anyone has ever looked into these lights. They are great lights for indoor plants and a cheap alternative to grow coral in salt water tanks. I figure coral and plants like them, then chameleons would. The link is the only picture of the light I could find. They are fairly cheap and replacement bulbs are also inexpensive. It is a 65w light, that ups out betweem 6000 and 8000 lumens, but haven't found out what the spectrum chart looks like. Thanks Bridge

if you dont know for sure stick with the reptisun 5.0 bulbs. most places online sell for under 20 bucks. get the light fixture at home depot. im using a 48 inch bulb and a home depot fixture that costed 19 bucks.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I do have them under a 5.0 48" and a 18". I was more curious then anything. I was think of some of the larger breeders. They could us one light instead of several. Just a thought. Bridge

But it is interesting. I will definately consider it as an additional bulb for the plants in the enclosures and for additional lighting for aesthetic reasons. The 5.0 and 7.0 reptisuns produce less visual light. Also I have fish tanks and heavily planted frog terreriums that they would be great for
Thanks

Well, atleast it is helping someone out. I will try to research the UVA and UVB output. You can buy them a Home Depots I heard for $30. It is considered a shoplight. You can also find small bulbs that are flourex there. They fit in normal outlets and produce a great number of lumens, which is grat for plant growth. Thanks Bridge
