Wow, sorry to hear about that. Perhaps the lack of development as an embryo resulted in a lack of development with vital organs. Thus causing his death just a few hours after hatching. That might explain why he was only half the size of the others, and had such a strange coloration/patterning. Have you bred these parents before? Maybe there is something in the genes from that pairing that caused the unusual appearance?
Either way, I'm sorry for your loss.

Whatever caused the colour did it again -the 2nd one is much healthier and bigger.
