Heat bulb wattage

NomadOfTheHills Sep 16, 2004 06:55 PM

I might get a baby ball at the LIHS show on oct. 9th, but am torn between one of these, a heterdon, or some cresties. Can;t decide now, so I am doing research on all of them

I have a 55 tall hexagonal tank. What wattage do you think will give me a proper temp grad? Thanks!

Also, what is the classification of balls?

Actually none of them, snakes need belly heat. To get that you need a heat source thats under the cage,or tank.
If your on a budget ? purchasing a Heating Pad from WalMarts or something will get ya by till a better source can be purchased.Otherwise invest in some Flex Watt and a good thermostat. Most dimmer switches and Reostats are prone to failure, you get what you pay for as a rule here, flex watt tape has reliable service records when properly used exceeding 10 years plus.
Temp grade for the BP should be 90*-78* With humidity 55-60%,they love to hide so have one on each end.
Just be sure your completely set up,Temp/Humidity levels under control before bringing the snake home.

Best Of Luck !

The Bean Farm dot com has the best price on Flex watt as well as good prices on Stats and Temp/Humid guages as well. Their reputation is also solid. This being the Boa section, you`ll prolly do better hanging in the Python section here on KS.
BUT !!! Since your HERE LOL!!!
Do ya really want a BP thats has an overall personallity of a stop sign on a county road ?could very well end up more of a PITA then your mother ?
BCI is were its at !Plenty of options to choose from, like the Nics that dont get but about 4'Loads of Insular Boa`s to choose from that stay small and make rewarding pets.
Coarse I like my snake(s) to have a little action, unlike my BP`s which are slugs that do nothing more then turn Rats into poop.
