It's poop again

Ok, this may seem like a dumb question....but why not just give a bearded dragon the rx that makes parasites go away instead of spending all the money to get a fecal done? Would the rx hurt the beared dragon if they had nothing wrong with them? Or maybe some people would just give their bearded dragon the rx every month and make it less effective/safe? Please tell me why it would be a bad idea to give them some preventive meds if they didn't need it.

The problem is those medicines don't just kill the parasites they also kill some of the usefull critters that the beardies need to digest their food properly.
