Found Snake!!!!

cmsuphoto Sep 17, 2004 02:48 AM

Ok, I haven't posted in a while, but I'm the cop in St. Louis who lost a snake. I posted a question to wonder if my big fat cat ate the snake or not. Turns out, not. Here's the story.

I get to my apartment on a dinner break. If there's any cops in the gallery, they know that lunch breaks don't always land on the time you thought they might. Anywho, I get to the apartment a half hour later than I orginally wanted to, and I turn on some lights and see my big ole fat cat (17 lbs right now) playing with a bag grocery bag in the kitchen. I see something heavy in it, like a key chain or something, and look closely, turns out to be the missing snake! Been MIA for almost a month now, just turned up! Needless to say, I'm excited, and of course ready to feed the little guy. Back up to full strength, ready to breed next year!

Just wanted to update anyone who remembers.

This is AJ's cat. I'm not fat, I'm big boned. I wrote to you guys last time when AJ wasn't looking, and I wanted to let you know what I thought of the situation. I've known that snake was in the apartment all along, I just didn't want AJ to know. I chased that thing all over the place, and doggonnit, that thing can sure hide in small places! Anyway, AJ finally caught me. He was supposed to be home at 8 for dinner, and since it was 8:30, I thought it'd be safe for me to get out my favorite play toy, an amel motley corn snake. Little did I know he was just running late! Darn the luck. Oh well, maybe another snake will get out later! Til then, I'll watch intently when the snakes move around, especially feeding day in those other cages!

Reading your first post about loosing your snake. Isn't it amazing how they can turn up after long periods of time? That's great too that Cedric didn't make a meal out of him. I think my snakes wouldn't be so lucky though with 6 cats in the house.

I've got six cats in my house too, and amazingly, I've had a couple of geckos go missing for over a week and not get eaten. The last time it was a leopard gecko. He went missing while we were packing up to move. With all the boxes around, we had no hope of locating him. I figured that a ground gecko had no chance with all the cats being so excited and actively exploring all of the changes. We found him under one of the last pieces of furniture we took out to the truck. After we moved, we looked around the empty apartment and found tiny piles of poo in the strangest places - that little guy really got around - and managed to avoid all of our "great hunters".

My cat always tattles on my snakes when they get out. Although it may take some time, he always comes through for me. I'm very happy you found your friend all in one piece and still living!
