ok, i am making a backing for a texas ratsnake.. there is going to be a platform that has a heating thingie in it. notice i say heating "thingie" i still dont know what to put in it. i am thinking maybe a cobra mat... i hear that the zoomen heat cables suck. the undertank heaters are the wrost tho. they blister and crack up. any good brands/heating methods?

Lets discuss some of your comments:

"ZooMed heat pads crack and blister" hmmm.. if you use a dimmer, they last many years.

"ZooMed heat cable sucks" hmmm.. if you use this type of heater correctly, it is very effective. All depends on how you use it. Needs a dimmer or proportional controller too.

You can make it real easy on yourself and use overhead heating above this platform. Otherwise, the ZooMed heat cable attached in or under the platform might work way better than a heat pad. Depends what the platform is made of.
