Bolivian Regirgitation problem

filemgcutlery Sep 17, 2004 10:21 AM

I am running into a problem that I have never had before any advise would be great. I have a five foot long male Bolivian, that was suposed to be part of my first project this year, that has regirgitated four times over the last month and a half. He has been treated for parasights by my vet but he regirgitated twice since then. I have him a 80 degrees and 50% humidity. Any sugestions would be great. I am taking last knights regirgatation in for testing this morning.

Wait 2 weeks to try feeding again & feed something very small. A small rat would probably work. Then keep him on 1 small rat every 10 to 14 days for a couple months then move him up to a medium. You may want to increase the temp to 85 & have a hot spot for him around 95. Another thing I would do is increase the humidity to around 75 - 80 percent.

Is treat with nutribac. It raises the levels of good bacteria in the digestive system because gurging really does a number on digestive tract.

where do you get this Nutrbac?

You should have a hot spot of 90, cool side 80. The rule of thumb is do not feed a boa for 21 days after a regurge. Forget the supplements - they aren't necessary. Just get a good hot area and stop feeding for awhile. Then use a small prey item to start, and wait for the snake to poop that before feeding again. If your snake continues to gurge you may have a serious problem (virus or protozoan). If the snake starts having messy stools you may need to use flagyl. Hope this helps, feel free to email me if you need more help down the line.
