Looking for a nice incubator... Any opinions??

jh_reptiles Sep 17, 2004 11:10 AM

Hi all,
I'm looking to purchase a new incubator. Any opinions on where to buy one that will hold multiple clutches?
Thanks,
Jason and Hillary

I can give you a design idea and a basic list of materials depending on how many clutches you want it to hold. Here is a picture of one I'm currently working on, it will hold 24 Phillips shoe boxes or 12 Phillips short sweater boxes. The thermostat, switches and thermometer will go in the top. The gap in the bottom is for running wires to the heat element and fans.

I'd be interested in more detail on that one.

I just put this together in the last couple hours so I'm sure there is something I left out but this should cover the basics. There are numerous additions that can be done for cosmetics purposes but this should get you started.

Thanks,

I've used a Hovabator Turbo on some Russian Tortoises. Would that not be advisable with Ball pythons?

I've found barely used hovabators in my local pennysaver (a magazine where people sell stuff really cheap - kind of a flea market in paper) some for under $25. If you've got something like that read it or go to www.pittsburghpennysaver.com even tho you may have to pay to ship it or pick it up if your around the area. good luck.
