Should you pull the males out of the enclosures during the reduced photoperiod/cooldown. If so for how long before reintroducing them to the ladies again. Also at what age/weight can they breed. I have read 40g, preferably 50 for the females, what about age and what about the males. I am a new breeder with good stock and am trying to do things right. I had good success this breeding season but am unsure of what to do because I have read so many different things. Thanks for your help. I plan on being a regular here. Also any comments on mu juvie pictures posted below?

Hi and welcome. Your juvies are beautiful. From my experience and what I have read and talked about with other breeders is that a cooldown period is not necessary with leos. I don't do it but I'm sure others on here can give you some good advice on it. As far as weight and age go, weight is more important that age, especially in the females. Females tend to mature around 35g or so but for their own health and safety it's good to wait until they are about fifty like you mentioned. That usually takes about a year (at least mine did). But a lot of people wait till about a year and a half. Males mature faster. I've heard around 9- 10 months. They don't go through as rough a time as the females during breeding season, but its still agood idea to wait until they are at least 40-45g. I hope this helps! And good luck next season!
