Help with 5 mon. Nosey B

tillya Sep 17, 2004 11:38 AM

I need some help with a female Nosey B. She is five months old and very small and will not eat on her own. I took her to the vet a week ago and shw was given three injections and perscrbibed to baytril and bene-bac. After a few days of the meds she was eating on her on then stopped.I have tried crix, mealworms, waxworms and fruit flies. She'll drink on her own but I have to force feed her. I have been feeding her baby food as the vet advised. Wondering if anyone has some tips to help us out.

What were the injections for? Did the vet diagnose anything like respiratory infection, intestinal infection? She's had a lot of stress lately and may be too stressed to behave normally. If she's not showing signs of actual illness (other than not eating) maybe you should back off all the handling and forcefeeding. She's not drinking on her own? How were you offering water? How long was she going without eating on her own? How long have you had her and where did you get her? Did you ask the seller what she was eating before you got her? First thing to do usually is double check with the seller or breeder to see if your husbandry is much different than what she's used to.
