Or West Virginia for that matter. I tried and tried to get pics of Easterns from those states but sightings are anecdotal from what I understand and I dont believe there are any preserved musuem specimens either ??? Hence I took them both off my site but I will add them in a minute as soon as I get a pic

Keith,
The main reason I was asking is because I was emailing a biologist from PA's fishing and boat commision here in PA regarding keeping the Eastern King as a pet in the state. Anyway she emailed me back saying it's was funny I was asking about eastern kings because most biologists/herpetologist think that the eastern king is NON-NATIVE to PA even though it is listed as a rare native species. She also added most experts think the record is unlikely and the species never was in the state to begin with since only one was caught in South Eastern PA many, many years ago. Anyway she said regardless if it is native to the state or not I 'CAN' own one if the snake is CB or from another state as long as I have the paper work IE bill of sale as to how I obtained it. As long as I have proof of sale and it's a CB one I can own one..which is cool since I have been wanting one for sometime now.

She gave me a list of all the laws regarding the state on reptile keeping

I read somewhere, though I can't site where, that the last one sited was in 1910. So maybe that was the one she was talking about?

One day back in 2001 while herping, some friends found a small eastern king, around 2 feet in length, under some boards and debris over a hill. This was in Western PA, I am not sure what has happened to the snake over the years, but I've been trying to find out....

Some of those Black Kings retain juvenile pattern so it may well have been a Nigra. Western PA is way out of the range they even claim but who knows ????

Highly doubtfull it was an Eastern. For one Keith is right about that being WAY out of their range and there hasn't been a legit sighting of an Eastern King since 1910(Ace was right!!)in the state of PA and that was VERY CLOSE to NJ in SEPA where the Eastern King is fairly abundant.

The Eastern King is pretty much extinct in PA or there are so little that no one has been able to find one since 1910,not even EXPERT biologists! If they haven't been able to find any in South Eastern PA which is only a few miles from the NJ Pine Barren's I HIGHLY doubt there are any in western PA.
