inbreeding of balls???

pengulove Sep 17, 2004 04:47 PM

i was thinking of picking up a group of 1.3 100%het albino balls(siblings) and was wondering what the deal is with breeding them together, and how many generations can be breed together safely? i have a large normal girl that i would breed to one of the male offspring of the group that was albino, so it would be a few years before i would have some somewhat new blood to add to the group. i know you can breed mom to son ect, but was wondering about the after that generational breeding pairs, if there would be problems.

thanks for advice in advance

Presumably you are getting the male for next to nothing in a group with his three sisters so go ahead but then start working on trading him for an unrelated male. Ask the breeder if the paperwork can have a signed picture of the male and try to find a simularly well documented het male to trade for from someone who checks out on the other site. Then when you start producing albinos trade one of those for an unrelated male albino to use as your breeder. That way you can avoid the entire possiblity of inbreeding problems even though you probably wouldn't have had problems anyway.
