i plan on getting a baby bearded dragon and i have a 3' x 2' x 2'(lwh) cage already. i was just wondering how long this would last before it needs a bigger one? thank you.

That is the minimum for one adult so until you build or acquire him or her a larger one. Or until you buy him or her a mate.

The cage you have there should be good till the dragon is about 6 months old then you will need to prepare a larger cage, at least 4'x2'x2'.
