flexwatt problem

kittynein Sep 17, 2004 06:07 PM

Ok, I'm building a snake rack and the only thing left to do is wire the flexwatt. Here's the problem: every wiring guide specifically says not to cut the flexwatt across the heating elements. In every pic, there is a gap every foot so you can cut it to size. I ordered a 4' piece from the Bean Farm and there are no such gaps. Would it be ok to go ahead and cut it as long as I insulate the edges with electrical tape?

I'm kind of at a loss here...

It looks like only the 11" panels have this gap, and the section I have is already cut across on the ends.

i have never seen instructions that said not to cut across the heating elements,i just checked on some 3" heat tape that i have and there's no such warning.if that were the case you would have to plan your usage in one foot increments?!? yes you have to insulate the ends as there hot.

I think I was looking at instructions for the 11" flexwatt. I'm only using 4"
