what are good branches for leachianus?

kozmo02 Sep 17, 2004 07:06 PM

seems like the grape vine i use is too small, half of him hangs off each side when he walks on it.

i was thinking bamboo would be good.

does anyone sell it online?

any other suggestions?

I've had great success keeping/breeding leachianus over the past 10 years using nothing but good 'ol cork bark. Various size slabs and tubes can be arranged to create a wonderful habitat with ample climbing and hiding areas. Leachianus, like most reptiles, prefer some variety and choices in their lives. They don't always prefer skinny vertical branches as is suggested in some popular literature, but will often choose wide horizontal locations, covered locations (such as inside a cork bark tube), ground level locations (such as under a cork bark slab), etc. Then there are those that simply choose to hang on the cage walls, seemingly unaware of the effort you put into designing their habitat. Go figure...

lol, thats the truth. i have a big cork hollow, and a few cork pieces already, and a lot of time he just hangs on the side. its pretty funny. but it seems now he is starting to warm up to his cork hollow and i often find him hanging out in it.

i need to get him a female island E mate, preferably a yearling if i can find one.

what size tank would you recommend for the pair? i have a 90 gallon that is 48" long, 24" tall, and 18" wide, is that too big or is that fine?
