mold on eggs incubating

ainriail Sep 17, 2004 07:38 PM

I have my eggs in a hovabator in deli cups w/ vermiculite, 5 eggs per cup. Now some of them started to mold and it seems to be spreading to other eggs in the cup. Is there anything I can do, and should I be worried about the other cups. Eggs were laid on 9/4 incubator is at 82 degrees. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Casey

The best idea would to be to trashed any of the collapsed and damaged eggs (if there are any) take the other molded ones (Those with just a bit of it) be sure to mark the top of the eggs before you remove them, wipe them off with a bit of paper towel and pure water, try to remove all the mold. Clean the container and replace the vermiculite. Hopefully they're only mildly affected and you won't lose any.. My info may not be accurate, others may have better more thorough suggestions, Good luck with your eggs! I hope to have my female lay soon, just noticed she was gravid today.
