I know this was brought up a while back but I never did get an answer. Is the BCL Boas a true Anery Boa or are the Melenistic? Do the lack all red or is it just "blacked out" Just curious about it.
They are beautiful snakes either way and ones I hope to get in the near future.
Thanks

Most longicauda are not true anerys, the black replaces much of the red as they mature. There exist true anerythristic longis, though. Hermann has a line in Germany, and Gulf Coast reptiles produces some each year. Mine unexpectedly showed up in a brother to sister litter this year that comes from a line that most likely shares lineage with the Gulf Coast animals. In a litter of 24 there were 5 that looked true anery. They do not have the red that the others in the litter had. Here is a picture of a non-anery sibling that shares the grey/black color but has the usual red in the tail, most of which will eventually be replaced with black. The true anerys should be much prettier in my opinion, hopefully to be very grey/silver and black. I like longicauda, but don't like the brown and black ones. It will be interesting to watch them change.

Speaking of Gulf Coast Reptiles...
this is one of my newest additions purchased from them not too long ago, deal was done for a "he" but through finger pressure on the tail method think i may have gotten a "she"...not that im complaing in the least lol, i bought it mainly for the anery possibilities with it and that beautiful striped tail, hope yall like "her"
