Well, I started early this year. I have already started introducing my boy to my girls for the breeding season, Heck I don’t even have all my Corn snakes out of the eggs yet, but I have found two of my females already “doing the twist” so I thought I would start to introduce them with each other. This season I find myself with more breedable females then males to go with them so I am trying to pair up some, I even brought out my yearling males to put into play, So Far this is what I have pairing up, tell me what you think……..
Salmontine/Suri cross (15 months old) with an Albino Female (01 1st year breeding)
Albino Het (00 1st year breeding) Female with a Double het for Ghost male (01)
Colombian/Suri Cross (Huge 8’ Female) with Salmontine male 01
Ecuadorian female (01 1st year breeding) with High Pink Striped Line Male (15 months old, using two of them to try and do the job)
Huge Colombian Female 9’ 60lbs x a Salmon Male 01
Ivory Anery Boa (00) x A Double Het for Ghost male, they bred last year and produced some beautiful babies
Double Het for Ghost Female x a Leticia Anery Male 02, some new blood into the ghost line
I also have a Leticia Female that might be breedable this season, but I think I will give her one more year.
I did not hold back too many babies this season, I kept a Ghost Male and a Male Double het for Ghost. I also got a Double het for Sunglow from Mike at Basically Boas this season (also het for striped to boot), but all those won’t be ready to breed at least until nest season (06 season), By the 06 season I hope to have my Striped Lined Females of age to breed with My male that I kept and bring back my line of Co-Dom High Pink Striped Boas. Oh I forgot, I also got a 2.2 or Guyana Boa this season (beautiful animals that I hope to breed pure as well as add to the albino group, maybe even through in some Salmontine blood their way. And speaking of odd ball breeding, I did get 2 male Peruvian x Hogg Island Boas in a trade this year, I know it sounds like and odd combination but they really are neat looking boas, Just not sure what I am going to do with them?
Add a few new cages from Jeff Ronne’s Boaphile Plastics this year. This is my first time getting some of Jeff’s cages and I must say I like them!, I have not gotten the sweater box racks yet but the two Stacks that I did get a great and the built in heat is fantastic. I must say that I am really torn between Jeff’s cages and Doug Barr’s cages. I have them both and they are both great!
Ok enough of this ramble, tell me what you think of the combos this season and let me know if you think any other combos of them would be better. I am hoping (as I always do) for a banner year this year and can’t wait until next May to see what comes due! Until then I plan to occupy my time in Costa Rica in Nov and Maybe some time down in the Everglades come spring, I like to get to the swamp once a year and see what is going on down there.
Thanks for reading my ramble
