new milk shedding problem

ray_przybysz Sep 17, 2004 10:13 PM

ok...so i'm not used to milksnakes (i own burms and boas...which are moderate-high humidity snakes)...

so my question...my milksnake is only half shed, from about the middle of his body to his tail is slowly peeling, most snakes shed in one piece or a few large pieces, what do i do to help his shed along (i wasn't sure if i could soak him like i do my other snakes) any input would be appreciated.

thanx,
ray

Get a small container (like a gladware), cut a hole in the side of it for the snake to get into it, and fill it halfway with damp sphagnum moss, or even moist paper towels. Put it inside of his normal cage on the cool end. He'll eventually go in there and use it as a hide box whenever he is getting ready to shed, or even during a partial shed like he's having now.

You can soak them also, as you said you've done with other snakes. That always seemed to work for my Mexican milks.
