normal mating behavior?

mn9796 Sep 17, 2004 11:14 PM

I am not positive, but I may have posted about this before. I have 2 fbts. I think that both are male. They are continuously trying to mate though. One is definately more aggressive as he is almost always jumping on the other's back. But I have seen the other one trying to do the same but he doesn't seem as aggressive about it. The more aggressive one is a little smaller. THe calling goes on all day from both of them. It sometimes seems that the bigger one gets very annoyed with the smaller one. I saw him jump on the smaller one tonight in the water and they were actually spinning around in the water. It looked like they were wrestling and I actually thought he was going to hurt him. Will they hurt each other? Should I get more toads (females? if I can)so that they have more mates and won't wear each other out? If they are both males-will they finally give up trying-or is this actually some way of intimidating each other. I make sure that each gets fed the same amount so there should be no competition. Any suggestions or info on what is going on would be great. Oh by the way- I got them at the same time at the same place and I've had them for about a month.

I'm sorry, I did post about this before and did get a response from arlalane. Thanks for the info. Any other opinions would be great! I had one person on another site tell me that if I add more toads-they may actually compete and fight to the death. Can this happen?
