hatchling beardies not eating

civa Sep 18, 2004 10:25 AM

My first hatchling arrived on Sept 14 and I have had many more since then. The only problem is I have not seen them eat at all. I have the babies without the "egg yolk sack" on them in a 20L aquarium with paper towel as the substrate. I have the basking spot "highest point" at approx 120F and the cool end at about 80F. They have a water dish and I have been keeping them hydrated with a sprayer. Now I know Ive read to feed them 2 to 3 times a day but I have not seen any of them eat yet! Should I be worried? Some have only been in the cage for 24 hours so I don't know how long the egg absorbtion will keep them active and alive but I just wanted to find out from some people with expirience raising hatchlings. I am offering small crickets dusted with miner-all and a mix of veggies turnip greens and dandelion greens and collards. Any information would be greatly appraciated.

Thanks in advance

Doug

It's not unusual for newly hatched dragons not to be hungry for several days to a week after coming out of the egg. Sounds like the setup is alright, though I don't remember you mentioning having UVB light. That is a must. Keep offering food every day and eventually they will start to eat it.
