Durango Mountain King

robibobi Sep 18, 2004 03:02 PM

Hi I am new to this forum.I just recently got a Durango Mountain king.It was a gift.I don't know a lot about them. I usually do the lizard thing. So this is new to me.I have him in a 20 long with repti carpet a hide and a water dish. His temps around 80 on the warm side and 70 ish on the cooler side.Is that ok or do they need warmer or cooler. He is only a baby about 12 to 13 inches.I have a lot of questions. How big do they get how long do they live.I am feeding him 2 frozen(defrosted) pinkies a week right now is that enough??I think its a female but that is just going by tail length which is short.I believe that usually indicates female but I could be wrong.Anything you can tell me would be a great help.I just love him.He is very friendly I can pick him anytime and he lets me.Very active at night which is great because I am a night owl myself. He doesn't rty to bite at all.So far no problems I have had him about a month. How often should he be shedding. He shed once alreadt with no problems.
Thanks for all you help in advance.

Your snake is eating enouph, but you might want to upgrade to fuzzies when she gets to be about 17''. She will shed once to twice a mounth depending on how fast she is growing.

Ok so far I have had no problem getting pinkies but where do I get fuzzies from.Once she is ready for them I want to be able to get them easily enogh for her.Petstores around here only carry pinkies and live mice not frozen.
Thanks
Robin

I think you might be able to order frozen rodents online and have them mailed. You can get as many as 90 fuzzies at a time. If you have a small shortage for one reason or another, it's ok; kingsnakes can go for months without food.
