Have you thougth about purchasing your rats form an online supplier such as rodent pro. After shipping it comes out to be about the same as the pet store but you can get the sizes you want. Anyway, here is the feeding schedule I would recommend.

30"-1 small rat every five days
4'-1 medium rat every five days
5'-1 large rat every 5 days
6'-1 jumbo/collossus rat every 5 days
7' - go with an appropriate sized rabbit every 10-14 days.

if the snake is a male and the snake has reached the 9' mark or so you could even slow the food down a little more. If it is a female and you are not planning on breeding her then you can also slow down the interval after the 9' mark or so. I also, would not feed every three days as it causes a little stress on the animal since it never has any down time. What I mean is that the snake eats and then starts digesting. As soon as the food is digested, or possibly while it is still digesting, it eats again and so on. I would really try to buy your prey frozen online. It would simplify things. And lastly at almost 3' your snkae should be able to handle a small rat with out any problems. Give it a try. Todd

If at all possibly (i doubt it but worth telling you) you could use baby rabbits and give it bigger sizes when needed. I am sure if you talk to the online breeders they might sale you some. I am not sure if they would or not. If there any big flea market like things (only if your int he south like me lol) around there are probably people who sale rabbits there and you oculd ask for babaies. It would make the switch so much easier. I am currently still trying to get a good breeder coloy of rabbits started so I can do the same thing.
