If you're getting a baby just set the tank up on its bottom. I assume you're getting a reptile tank with a secure locking screen lid. Give it a branch to perch on, a water bowl and newspaper. Keep it simple to start. I had good results with a basking area in the mid-high 80's, not over 90 and a cool area in the high 70's-low 80's. I'm no pro, but they were pretty easy for me to raise.

They grow pretty fast so the 10 gallon won't last very long at all. I don't think I could stuff my girl in a ten gallon if I tried. I started with a 45 gallon and then went to a 4x4x2.5. They are pretty active, not like some of the other pythons out there. I'm no expert either though so this is just my experience, good luck, Eric-
