I am thinking of getting a GTP, and was wondering how difficult are they to raise?

JDalbo Sep 18, 2004 07:45 PM

I currently own an Albino ball, albino het ball, and a normal ball. I really want to get a GTP now. I saw alot of them at M.A.R.S today but wanted to educate myself first. I've heard the aru's are the most docile, but how can I tell an aru from a biak, ect. I'm aware of humidity requirements, but are there any other specific needs? I also saw alot of acrylic cages for GTP's and was wondering if they are a good choice for housing them? Any info would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

First, I'm no expert on these, but I own a Biak and have done alot of research on them. Check out fine green tree pythons. It's Greg Maxwells web site at the bottom of the main page there is a link to another forum. Greg's site has alot of information on greentrees as well. Temperments run the full range, some nice some vicious. I took my Biak out yesterday for the first time, he was very well behaved. Good luck, do alot of research. Clint

I would agree, I figured once at the site it would be a need to sort of item. Clint

http://www.signalherp.com/ Rico Walder has an excellent owners manual that is available for potential/owners. It's a fraction of the cost of "The Complete Chondro" (which is worth the money) but heavy on content with all that you need to get a good solid start. It's a "sleeper" worth it's weight in gold.

Greg Maxwell's Chondro book is worth every penny. I strongly suggest reading it before beginning this venture.
