What has happened to this forum?

tanmuscles Sep 18, 2004 09:43 PM

Up until about a year ago, I was a regular member of this forum. I didn't post a whole lot, but i spent hours reading and reading, trying to better my monitor experience.

I learned a whole lot and credit this forum as one of the best monitor forums on the web. I got into other hobbies and haven't read on the forum for almost a year. I just checked back to see how it was going, who was still here, ect. Now all I see is bickering, name calling and personal attacks.

I haven't even scanned down the whole page and there's a dozen posts of people simple trying to carry on a debate that should have ended forever ago.

Whatever happened to trying to help the people, the other readers? If a person new to the hobby stumbled upon this site, all they would see is a bunch of cocky breeders trying to bring down other cocky breeders.

So let me ask you, please, just let everything go and make this forum the friendly helpful information superspot it used to be. I remember when there used to be problems with people coming down too harshly on newbies, now it seems like no one can post without ripping another member to shreds.

Many of the members here are some of the most honored and revered monitor hobbyists in the world, so let's act like it.

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

I don't even bother posting anymore, this is the first time in weeks that I even checked in. I'm not surprised that it's all the same. It's unfortunate, but where people are concerned this is what you get sometimes. We rub off on one another, if its accepted pretty soon everyone is doing it, weather its right or wrong. Its to bad, as there are alot of people here who have alot to offer. You are not the only one who sees it though, I feel the same. Clint

But this forum has always been the same. Full of name calling, fighting, etc etc. Before I came here it was like that. When I left it was like that.

You should consider, life it like that. There will always be a protagonist and an antagonist. If one leaves another pops up to take their place. I would like to feel special, but I understand I am only a placeholder.

Often I am attacked, they say, you think your an expert, etc. But when I do not post here(leave) the next person in line now gets to field those attacks. Really its only human nature.

What you need to look for is when something useful pops up, amoung all the muck. Because there will always be muck.

Also, This forum is what YOU make it, if its heading in a direction you do not like, then its your job to change that.

So if this forum is not what you want, either change it to what you want, or make your own. ITs really that simple. FR
