Unsure of "golden tree frog"....

irulia Sep 18, 2004 10:12 PM

I have seen that previously people have been wondering about what the "golden tree frog" is really called or the scientific name anyway...and a photo to help? I purchased a frog that was called a golden tree frog by the dealer, but I looked online to find ambiguous results... The coloration shifts from a light yellow to brown with darker paterns of random spots but no stripes. Pointy snout and golden eyes. Cute! I was wondering if there is a good photo of such tree frogs and their scientific names so I can confirm it without the confusing common names...or just wrong names...thanks

I have the same animal if its' only about an inch in length. it's called the Polypedates leucomystax which is a subspecies of the Golden tree frog. it's smaller than it's bigger cousin Rhacophorus leucomystax.. as far as i can tell. and Polypedates don't have the stripes. here is a few pictures of mine.
