Help, a runt snake hatched

pinatamonkey Jun 26, 2003 04:00 PM

I hatched a runt. I was worried about this egg because it was still the same size it was when it was laid. All the others grew somewhat.

Is it going to survive? What would I feed it, the just-born pinkie mice I have look too big. He's only 8-9 in long and very thin.

I guess I'll keep an eye on him. May try pinkie heads...?

I would try the heads, he is pretty small but baby Tree Boas can be thinner. He should be able to get some food down. Very pretty snakes BTW. Good Luck

Hi Audri,
I just got a tiny snow a couple of weeks ago that was just about the same size as your little guy.
I didn't have anything small enough and my usual supplier didn't have anything small enough so I went to PetCo.
They have frozen pinkies, fuzzies and adults.
The guy in that department let me look though the bag of pinkies and I found 10 or 12 that were tiny enough so I bought them.
A couple of them were so small they hadn't hardly developed legs yet.Perfect for a "runt".
The little snow has eaten three and will get one or maybe even two tomorrow.
I know a lot of poeple don't like PetCo but hey they had what I needed.
If you have a PetCo in your area give them a call, they might have what you need.
Oh yeah, they are close to a dollar but for a few feedings it is worth it to keep your snake alive.
just a thought
