It looks like a garter to me, what state was it found in? and we can make a more possitive ID

I found it under a piece of wood. I live in Florida. I put it in a bucket and when i went to get it out it was SOOO aggressive. I never seen such an aggressive snake. I thought it was some sort of racer...
Depending on what part of Florida that is an Eastern Garter.

Definitely a Thamnophis. Racers do not have stripes. BTW, there is a difference between agression & defensive behaviour. What you witnessed was the latter.

Its a black phase of a garter snake. Awesome.

It's from Florida and it looks like it has blue stripes... perhaps Thamnophis sirtalis similis, or maybe just a blue sirtalis?
