C. c. collaris x C. c. auriceps test breeding redux

DC Sep 19, 2004 11:37 AM

I found an additional reference to the production of 'abnormals' when mating specimens of the 'former' auriceps to 'regular' C. collaris, obliquely referred to in an abstract by Robert Schumacher on this page which is a rather poor translation. The suggestive text is:

"It is urgently recommended ton SELECT mates for breeding groups from the same of subspecies. The crossbreeding OF Crotaphytus collaris auriceps x Crotaphytus collaris collaris produced abnormally off-jump. This fact and the great difference OF colour patterns between subspecies suggest that Crotaphytus collaris May perhaps split into several full species."

Perhaps one of you who is conversant with Herr Schumacher could impose upon him to recall the context and supporting data referrenced in this abstract?
