Shedding Problem

Gdoyle0523 Sep 19, 2004 01:35 PM

Just got a new GTP and it is doing great. It's feeding well and very docile. My only problem is that it is having trouble shedding. I have an automatic mister that keeps the tank at 50% humidity. there is a large waterdish at the bottom of the tank, but the GTP dosn't seem to use it. Does anyone know any tricks to help with this?
appreciate it
-Greg
P.S. can you feed a GTP too much? e.g. Every other day (fuzzies)

50% !!!! You should be like 82% with a drying period!!! Up the humidity and if really bad put in deli cup with balled up wet paper towels.

Your misting timer should be increased. During a shed cycle, your humidity should be around 75-90%. You may also want to mist the snake itself during the shedding period. And yes, you can definately over feed a chondro. Babies can be fed every 5 days until about 8 months to a year depending on their growth rate. Once they start eating adult mice, feeding should be reduced to every 7-10 days.

Thanks. That pic is a few months old, but the snake still look pretty much the same. The orange is more yellow. It's owned now by Eric Dubose. I've let some nice ones get away.
